2014 MPA APSA ACADEMY FILM FUND WINNERS HIGHLIGHT STRENGTH & QUALITY OF ASIA PACIFIC FEATURE FILM PROJECTS Film Fund-supported ‘Memories on Stone’ receives UNESCO Award

On December 11, 2014, the MPA attended the 8th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) ceremony in Brisbane, Australia, to award another four successful feature film projects with development funding at the announcement of the 2014 MPA APSA Academy Film Fund. Twenty projects have now received funding through the initiative developed in partnership with the APSAs and now count amongst them winners of an Academy Award®, multiple Asia Pacific Screen Awards and an International Emmy Award. A recipient of the 2011 Film Fund, Shawkat Amin Korki, won the 2014 UNESCO award for his film Memories on Stone.

Over 100 feature, documentary and animation treatments this year were reviewed by Andrew Pike (Australia), Zoë Chen, General Manager of leading boutique film production company Ruddy Morgan Organization (People’s Republic of China) and Sheila Timothy, award winning filmmaker and President of the Association of Indonesian Film Producers, (Indonesia).
